Music artists
Music artists are coming soon
The same idea as the movies page, for music: score the artists you already love, put them in order, and get ten artists you do not know yet — each with a percentage and a plain line saying why.
- Your own ranked list of artists, scored 1 to 10.
- Ten suggestions from a catalog built on MusicBrainz (CC0) and Wikidata (CC0).
- Genres, era, country and solo-or-band steer the suggestions.
- Free, no account needed — your list stays in your browser or in your account.
Not open yet. In the meantime the movies and TV shows page is ready:
1 Artists you score
Search an artist you know, score it 1 to 10, and put it where it belongs. The order is the ranking: #1 weighs most.
Nothing scored yet — search an artist above, or press “Fill with 5 popular items” for a demo list.
The order is the ranking — #1 counts most. Use ▲▼ to move an artist up or down the list.
2 Your top 10
Nothing here yet — score a few artists in step 1 and press Show me 10 artists.
⚠️ Estimates, not facts. They come from a script: no catalog holds every artist, genres are broad labels, and taste is more than a list of scores. A hint, not advice.
3 Saved artists
Saved suggestions. Heard one and liked it? Press “+ Score it” so it starts counting in your taste profile.
Nothing saved yet — use “♡ Save” on a suggestion.
How the percentage is calculated
- Every artist you score is split into features: genre, country, era (the decade the act started) and solo artist or band.
- Your 1-10 becomes one signed value: 1 → −1 (hate), 5 → 0 (no opinion), 10 → +1 (love). The position is a second weight on top: #1 counts fully, the last entry half.
- Those features get a weight from your list — a genre that only shows up in artists you love becomes a positive signal, one from artists you rated 0 negative. Shrinkage keeps a single artist from dominating.
- Each catalog artist is scored on how well it matches that profile, how similar it is to your loves (and how unlike your hates), plus a small popularity prior — squashed into a 0-100% estimate.
- The final ten are picked with a mild diversity rule; saved and hidden artists and anything your filters exclude are left out.
The same engine runs the movies and YouTube pages; only “what an artist is” differs.
The catalog is built from MusicBrainz (core data, CC0) and Wikidata (CC0): the artist catalog. The data, your account and your privacy have their own page: Data, accounts & privacy.
